Price Differences
I think it's pretty much common knowledge at this point that laptops cost more than desktops. But have you ever wondered why Well there are a number of reasons but one of the big ones is that they cost more to manufacture. When a desktop is put together they don't have to worry as much about space cooling issues. Building a laptop takes more precision this increases the cost.
Don't Forget Ergonomics Usability
Have you ever had your hands cramp on you from typing on a laptop for too long I have it's not a fun thing. But with a desktop you can get an ergonomic keyboard other things that improve your computer using experience. Laptops have a lot of constraints in this way. Sure you can still get an external device but it just gives you one more thing you have to carry around with you laptop.
